Internal Audit Student Profile: Maryam Makinde, University of Pretoria

Maryam Makinde of the University of Pretoria chose to pursue a career in internal audit because it will allow her to feel of value within the organization while thinking strategically and critically about business. Participation in the IAEP program and attendance at the Internal Audit Student Exchange provided her with a practical, global perspective of internal audit and greater job opportunities internationally. She encourages prospective internal auditors to always uphold their values and be brave, as “Courage is not always the loudest voice in the room, sometimes it’s the quiet voice in your head at the end of the day saying: ‘I will try again tomorrow.’”
