IIA to Host Internal Auditing Education Partnership Exchange in Orlando

Students also will engage in mock interviews, resume reviews at Orlando event

LAKE MARY, Fla. (Aug. 21, 2018) —The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) and Internal Audit Foundation announced today plans for a case study competition for university students at its upcoming 2018 Internal Auditing Education Partnership (IAEP) Exchange – Impacting the Future of Aspiring Internal Auditors – in Orlando. The IAEP Exchange, a leadership and networking conference for internal audit students, educators and corporations, will be held Sept. 14-16, 2018, at the Rosen Centre Hotel, Orlando.

The case study will focus on a significant, topical issue, such as risk factors like cybersecurity, facing the profession today. Each group, comprising students from around the world, will select an industry and company of their choice, then present a comprehensive audit plan focused on the risk to a committee of internal audit professionals and educators. The audit committee will judge the competition and select two groups as winners.

A key goal of the conference is to help students prepare for graduation and enter the internal audit profession. There also will be mock job interviews, resume reviews and panel discussions led by business leaders. Leading organizations, such as KPMG and Deloitte, will be involved as participating and sponsoring corporate partners to recruit and mentor students who are studying and specializing in internal auditing.

“We look forward to once again hosting this premier event focused on learning for students who aspire to a career in the dynamic profession of internal audit,” said IIA President and CEO Richard Chambers, CIA, QIAL, CGAP, CCSA, CRMA. “Our IAEP conference serves to benefit very specialized audiences from around the world by offering a unique blend of top-rated presentations from insightful speakers and keynote presenters. This is a great opportunity for students, in particular, to network with key professionals through various events that will prepare them for entering the world of internal audit.”

The conference attracts attendees from around the world, including IAEP and non-IAEP university educators who are teaching a Principles of Internal Auditing course at their university, students studying internal audit at IAEP universities, IIA chapter Academic Relations Chairs from IIA affiliates, and internal audit professionals from leading companies.

Additionally, educators attending the conference will be given an opportunity to learn best practices for incorporating internal auditing education in the classroom, while Academic Relations Chairs will be provided with best practices and techniques on approaching potential academic relations activities on their local chapter level.
