IIA Honors Leaders in the Profession

Awards highlight professionals who spent their careers advancing internal audit

LAKE MARY, Fla. (16, June 2021) — The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA), the internal audit profession’s widely recognized advocate, educator, and provider of standards, guidance, and certifications, presented two of the organization’s most prestigious awards to four longtime volunteers during its International Conference, co-hosted by IIA-Singapore.

The Victor Z. Brink Award for Distinguished Service, in recognition of outstanding dedication to the profession, was presented to:

• Naohiro Mouri, Executive Vice President and Chief Auditor of AIG. Mouri is a Certified Internal Auditor who currently serves as Chairman of the Global Nominating Committee. He has made extraordinary contributions to the global internal audit profession through service to The IIA for almost 25 years. Since first joining IIA–Japan in 1996, Mouri-san has served the organization at the institute, regional, and global levels. In 2018, he was elected Chairman of The IIA’s Global Board and traveled the world — pre-COVID-19 — advocating the importance of our Standards.
• Michael Peppers, Chief Audit Executive for The University of Texas System. Peppers has been a member of The IIA for about a quarter of a century. In 2017, he was elected Chairman of the Global Board of Directors and stressed, as his platform, the importance of service to the profession. Peppers is a Certified Internal Auditor and holds the Qualification in Internal Audit Leadership and Certification in Risk Management Assurance. Currently, he is Chairman of the International Internal Audit Standards Board and is a former Chair of the North American Board.

The Bradford Cadmus Memorial Award, which recognizes exceptional volunteer service and contributions to the profession, was presented to:

• Glenn Ho, a Certified Internal Auditor and a member of The IIA for more than two decades. Currently Chief Audit Executive for Mediclinic International, where he established an internal audit function that was previously outsourced, Ho is recognized for innovation and making sure internal audit sits in its rightful place as a key component of effective governance. He holds the Certification in Risk Management Assurance and has served in a variety of IIA roles, including membership and as chair of several committees. He also served as Governor of IIA–Western Cape Region in South Africa.
• Anton van Wyk, a member of The IIA for more than 34 years. He most recently served as Chair of the Global Services Model Task Force for the organization, and was the first South African to hold the post of Chairman of The IIA’s Global Board of Directors. Van Wyk, who holds the CIA, QIAL, and CRMA, is a partner with PwC. An incredible advocate for The IIA, he also is a past recipient of the Victor Z. Brink Award for Distinguished Service. 

“I am honored to bestow these high honors to these extraordinary professionals,” said IIA Global Chair Jenitha John. “They are truly leaders in elevating internal audit’s service, value, and impact. And they set the standard for others to emulate.”
