Accounting Today Recognizes IIA President & CEO as a Top Influencer
LAKE MARY, Fla. (Sept. 10, 2018) – IIA President and CEO Richard Chambers has again been recognized by Accounting Today magazine as one of the 100 most influential change-makers and visionaries on a list that includes a wide range of prominent public and private sector executives, as well as national government leaders.
“A prolific writer and speaker, Chambers not only brings leadership to internal auditors,” the magazine stated, “he also brings visibility, a higher profile, and a strong sense of the value they offer businesses and markets.”
Indeed, Chambers, whose career in internal audit and association leadership spans more than 40 years, has led The IIA to record membership since becoming global CEO in 2009. The IIA, under his leadership, partners with a number of national and global organizations on key initiatives to advance the profession. In his travels throughout the world, Chambers relishes every opportunity to educate influential government officials and standard-setting bodies about the important role internal auditors play.
“Richard works tirelessly around the globe to build awareness of the internal audit profession and the value it brings to stakeholders,” said Naohiro Mouri, 2018-19 IIA Global Chairman and Executive Vice President and Chief Auditor at American International Group (AIG). “Anyone who knows Richard knows that there is no bigger champion of high professional standards and ethical conduct, both of which are critical in today’s fast-changing business environment.”
Accounting Today has been compiling the list for two decades. In the article announcing 2018’s top influencers, the magazine notes that “this year’s roster may be one of the most influential ever. The changes currently underway in the profession are so significant that the decisions they make now and in the coming years and months will have repercussions that will be felt for decades to come.”
