Brink, Cadmus Awards bestowed at International Conference<\/em><\/p>\n

LAKE MARY, Fla. (November 3, 2020) \u2014The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA), the internal audit profession\u2019s most widely recognized advocate, educator, and provider of standards, guidance, and certifications, presented two of the organization\u2019s most prestigious awards to three longtime volunteers during the first-ever, all-virtual International Conference.<\/p>\n

The Victor Z. Brink Award for Distinguished Service was presented to Paul Sobel, who is currently serving as chairman of the Committee of Sponsoring Organizations of the Treadway Commission (COSO). Widely recognized as a visionary, exemplary leader, sought-after speaker, and prolific author, Sobel has 35 years of experience in internal audit leadership roles, including as a CAE for four public companies.<\/p>\n

In keeping with the Brink Award\u2019s establishment to recognize those who have given extraordinary service to the profession of internal audit through participation in IIA activities, Sobel, in addition to his many other IIA volunteer leadership roles, served as The IIA\u2019s 2013-14 Chairman of the Global Board. His visionary nature was reflected in the theme he chose for his chairman\u2019s year: Imagine the Possibilities. Sobel also received in 2017 The IIA\u2019s Bradford Cadmus Memorial Award and was inducted into The IIA\u2019s American Hall of Distinguished Audit Practitioners.<\/p>\n

The Bradford Cadmus Memorial Award, which recognizes exceptional volunteer service and contributions to the profession, was presented to two individuals who, between them, have spent more than a half-century in the profession.<\/p>\n

G\u00fcnther Meggeneder is a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) who also holds the Qualification in Internal Audit Leadership (QIAL) and the Certification in Risk Management Assurance (CRMA). Meggeneder served as 2010-11 IIA Chairman of the Global Board. \u201cShaping the Future,\u201d the theme Meggeneder chose for his chairman\u2019s year, is what he has worked to do through more than two decades in the profession and his continued involvement with and dedication to The IIA, the profession, and The IIA community.<\/p>\n

Alan Siegfried\u2019s more than 30 years in the profession include teaching internal audit at the university level. Inducted into The IIA\u2019s American Hall of Distinguished Audit Practitioners in 2015, Siegfried has worked to advance the profession through the senior internal auditing leadership roles he\u2019s held in large financial services organizations. Also a CIA, Siegfried\u2019s other designations include CRMA, Certification in Control Self-Assessment, Certified Government Audit Professional, and Certified Financial Services Auditor.<\/p>\n
