Chambers recognized for 7th time as among corporate governance leaders<\/em><\/p>\n

LAKE MARY, Fla. (August 10, 2020) \u2014The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA), the internal audit profession\u2019s most widely recognized advocate, educator, and provider of standards, guidance, and certifications, announced today that President & CEO Richard F. Chambers will be honored for the seventh time by the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) as one of the most influential leaders in corporate governance.<\/p>\n

Now in its 14th year, the NACD Directorship 100 recognizes leading directors and governance professionals. A recognition ceremony is planned during NACD\u2019s Virtual Summit 2020 in October and the full list of honorees will be in highlighted in NACD Directorship<\/em> magazine\u2019s annual list of the Most Influential People in Boardrooms and Corporate Governance in its November-December issue. Chambers was first honored by the NACD in 2013.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn this age of ever-evolving risks and how organizations are able to anticipate and respond to those challenges, Richard has been an outspoken leader and advocate of the importance of effective corporate governance and the pivotal role internal audit plays in organizational success,\u201d said IIA Global Chair Jenitha John. \u201cIndeed, under Richard\u2019s leadership, The IIA recently released an important update to the widely accepted Three Lines Model, reflecting in its new core principles the role of governance in enabling accountability, action, and assurance within organizations. And only last year, one of Richard\u2019s key initiatives since coming to The IIA was realized in the debut of the first American Corporate Governance Index, which gauges the health of governance practices among U.S. corporations. This honor by the NACD is fitting to an individual who has and continues to champion the fundamentals and aspirations of sound governance.\u201d<\/p>\n

In a statement recognizing the achievements of the 100 honorees, NACD CEO Peter R. Gleason said, \u201cCourage, excellence, and exemplary leadership . . . are as important today as they have ever been\u2014and even more so as companies face an unwavering succession of challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic. This year\u2019s honorees have positively earned the recognition that these awards offer.
